The CUR Biology Division provides funds, up to $250, to help undergraduates attend a discipline-specific meeting and enable interactions with primary researchers within that discipline. Presentations at discipline-specific meetings are preferred for consideration, however biological abstracts submitted to SACNAS, ABRCMS, AISES or another meeting focused on underrepresented populations will be considered for this grant.
The deadline to apply was Friday, February 13, 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant must be an undergraduate student at a two- or four-year institution. Graduating seniors are eligible if travel is completed within three months of graduation.
- The student’s mentor must be a CUR member, or the student’s home institution must hold CUR institutional membership.
- The meeting must be discipline-specific or focused on underrepresented populations (e.g., SACNAS, ABRCMS, or AISES).
Application Procedure
- Students must complete and submit the online application form.
- Confirmation of the student’s attendance and presentation at the meeting is required to receive funding.
Selection Criteria
Awards will be based on:
- Scholarly merit of the abstract (150–250 words)
- Justification for attending the selected conference
- Anticipated benefits of the conference experience
The abstract must include:
- A clear statement of the objective (unless included in the title)
- A brief description of methods (if applicable)
- A summary of results
- A statement of conclusions (avoid “results will be discussed”)
- A statement of the significance of the work
