The Council on Undergraduate Research has partnered with the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation Program (Goldwater Program) to present the CUR-Goldwater Scholars Faculty Mentor Award, which recognizes faculty mentors who conduct their research in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) discipline, as defined by the Goldwater Program. Mentors must have mentored a minimum of three Goldwater Scholars during their career.
The deadline to submit initial nominations is November 13, 2026.
Awardees Receive:
- The honor of being nationally recognized as a CUR-Goldwater Scholars Faculty Mentor
- In addition, $5000 will be awarded to the recipient’s institution and dedicated to support of the faculty mentor’s research program and/or current undergraduate researchers

David Peak, Utah State University, was honored as the 2018 CUR-Goldwater Scholars Faculty Mentor Awardee and was presented with his award at the 2018 CUR Conference, in Washington, DC.
Julio Ramirez, Davidson College, was honored as the 2017 CUR-Goldwater Scholars Faculty Mentor Awardee and was presented with his award at the 2017 National Conference on Undergraduate Research, in Memphis, TN.
Carol Parish, University of Richmond, was honored as the 2016 CUR-Goldwater Scholars Faculty Mentor Awardee and was presented with her award at the 2016 CUR Conference, in Tampa, FL.
