Divisions – Education Faculty Mentor Award

The Education Division of the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) will recognize an outstanding faculty member whose work advances the study of undergraduate research in education. Eligible fields include special education, higher education, teacher education (PK–12, literacy, STEM, social studies, art, music), counseling, physical education, and health education.

One award of $1,000 will be presented in spring 2026. The award will be granted to the applicant who submits the strongest prospectus for a pilot study examining the effectiveness of undergraduate research (UGR) in education and providing evidence that supports the expanded integration of UGR within educational programs.

Eligibility

Must be a current member of CUR.

Deadline

The award application was due by February 13, 2026.

Application Components

All nomination materials must be submitted as a single combined PDF, with a maximum file size of 16MB. Incomplete applications or those exceeding the file size limit will not be considered.

The nomination package must include the following items:

  • Nominee’s Curriculum Vitae (C.V.): The C.V. should highlight relevant accomplishments and contributions demonstrating the nominee’s commitment Education. (Maximum of 5 pages).
  • 1,000-word Prospectus: 1,000 words, double-spaced, 12-point font) will be judged on the following:
    • Is the proposed study feasible? That is, does the applicant explain how the prospectus serves as a springboard to the pilot study?
    • Does the study have a strong interdisciplinary component? e.g., STEM/literacy, art/math, special education/social studies/history
    • Does the study promote the mission of CUR through the lens of Education?
  • Budget Breakdown: A comprehensive budget breakdown showing how the full $1,000 will be utilized, with specific attention to pilot study preparation and implementation.
