CUR Organizational Structure
CUR’s volunteer leaders help advance excellence in undergraduate research by guiding organizational strategy, strengthening programs and services, and fostering a vibrant and connected community of higher education professionals. Through collaboration across leadership bodies, elected volunteers bring diverse perspectives, expertise, and ideas that ensure CUR remains supportive, responsive, and innovative.
Together, these volunteer leaders shape CUR’s direction and expand the impact of undergraduate research across institutions and disciplines.
Available Positions
The CUR Board of Directors serves as the governing body of the organization, providing strategic direction, financial oversight, and leadership to ensure CUR advances its mission and remains positioned to serve the undergraduate research community.

- Three Director positions serving three-year terms
- One Presidential Line position serving a four-year stepped rotation through: Treasurer → President-Elect → President → Immediate Past President

Councilors serve as key connectors across CUR, bringing multidisciplinary insight and cross-divisional perspective to support CUR’s mission and strategic priorities. They help elevate emerging trends, opportunities, and challenges while fostering alignment between divisional initiatives and organizational priorities.

- One Councilor position in each CUR division, with each position serving a three-year term

Division Representatives serve as programmatic leaders within CUR, advancing the organization’s mission by fostering community, developing educational initiatives, and supporting engagement within their division and across the broader CUR network. They play a key role in cultivating a vibrant, inclusive, and forward-looking community that advances opportunities, belonging, and innovation in undergraduate research.
Available Positions:
- Positions are available in each division, with the number of openings varying by division. Each Division Representative serves a three-year term.
We are seeking engaged and collaborative members who are excited to build community and strengthen engagement within their discipline and across CUR.

The NLDC plays a critical role in strengthening CUR’s leadership pipeline by identifying, recruiting, and supporting the development of future leaders across the organization. Members help ensure CUR continues to benefit from strong, diverse, and well-prepared leadership by engaging in thoughtful nomination and leadership cultivation work.

- Three positions serving two-year terms
- Open to members from divisions that will not already be represented on the committee in the upcoming term, including:
Arts & Humanities, Biology, Chemistry, Education, Engineering, Geosciences, Health Sciences, MCS, Psychology, & Social Sciences
