DESCRIPTION:Preservice and in-service teacher thinking risks being outsourced to ‘reasoning’ models of AI (e.g. Open AI 3.0 mini and Deep Seek). Simultaneously\, the same risk is true for the thinking of the school students they teach. This webinar provides ways to manage this risk through conceptualization and practice about facilitating rich research thinking\, using examples from the open-access Springer book ‘Research Thinking for Responsive Teaching’. \nThe webinar overviews the book’s fluid characteristics of teachers’ research thinking\, providing a conceptual framing that may guide what we as educators can do to maximize the benefits of ‘reasoning AI’\, and minimize its risks. Chapters 2 to 8 use the Research Skill Development framework\, adapted to each context\, to guide teacher research thinking.  Chapters 6\, 7 & 8 of the book focus on undergraduate preservice teachers engaging in research (USA)\, digital-rich environments (Australia)\, and with social media (Indonesia)\, and will be featured in the webinar. Dr. LeMahieu leads assessment and research for Colorado State University’s Office for Undergraduate Research and Artistry. \nDescription: Often\, we have big goals for our programs but they may feel abstract or out of reach. Perhaps we have a sense that our programs are working great for some folks but we aren’t reaching others and we don’t know why. Implementation assessment is a way of examining program operations and resources to understand how well a program is going as planned. Implementation assessment can help you gain a stronger sense of your program’s identity and effectiveness\, and help you articulate accomplishments and needs to others. It can help you make better claims about how your program is making a difference and for whom. We provide a model that is practical\, user-friendly\, and will help you be more intentional about where to put your time and resources.
